Image editing: Bright flare caused by camera flash has been corrected

"This is a rare 1930s photo of the Carnauba plane. With no copies being available, I took a picture of the original photograph at the museum. As you can see the camera flash has shone off the surface, creating a bright flare in the middle of the photo. Can this be corrected?"
